107 George Street has historically housed a variety of uses. The design concept was conceived as a dialogue between place and provenance - inspired by the building’s unique historic fabric and a celebration of our client’s Italian heritage.
The design was influenced by restaurants the clients visited during their travels. At the heart of the ground floor is a striking open kitchen and bar that evokes an authentic Italian atmosphere, while the upper level introduces its own unique and distinctive characteristics. The tones are bold, moody, rich and layered.
Materials were carefully considered and highly customised, balancing the textural contrast of new and existing fabric. The walls and ceiling have been deliberately stripped and left raw, exposing it’s historical bones. The fittings range from new contemporary fixtures to salvaged antiques and unique Murano glass sconces. Lighting levels are intimate and moody.
